Guilin Botanical Garden

Guilin Botanical Garden was built in autumn of 1958, when the institute was led by Chinese Academy of Sciences. There are more than thousand one hundred species have been collected in the Garden, dominated by south subtropical species. Those speices including endemic plants of Guangxi or limestore area, rare and endangered species, economic adn ornamental plants were specially collected. With these species, seven scenic sections and five genetic nurseries and demonstrating gardens have been finished, including Gymnosperm section. Flower and miniature landscape garden, Rare and endangered plant garden, Magnoliaceae Garden, Actinidia and endangered plant garden, Actinidia(Kiwi fruit) genetic and demonstrating garden, Ginkgo garden, Golden Camellia garden and so on. Several special plant garden such as Rhododendrong garden, Orchid garden, Bamboo garden and Hydrophytes Garden will be built up according the master plan.
The garden was formally opened to visitors. It has now become one of the important scenic spots on the tourist line of Guilin to Yangshuo.
