Scene on Twenty_Yuan Bill-Li River Highlights
The shooting spot is to be found in a place locally known as Foziyan by the Lijiang River in Xingping. This location is favored not only by photographers but many painters as well. The famous artist Li Keran has been here on several occasions to work on his creations. The scenery here is pictured on the back of 20-yuan banknote of the 5h series of RMB that was introduced in 1999.
How to get there
Go over Pingxi Bridge from Xingping Town and head north along the riverbank for approximately 500 metres before getting down to the water's edge. You can also reach the spot by three-wheel taxi (fare: 2 yuan).
Photography Tips
You may choose to shoot from the dam when the flow of the Lijiang River is at a low level. However caution must be exercised to ensure the safety of yourself and your gear. Use front lighting in the morning to shoot subjects against a background of blue sky and white clouds. Late afternoon is a time to capture not only the sunset but also the lights on fishing boats, which can be hired for your use.
