Yangshuo, a legendary backpacker hang-out just 65km south of Guilin. Yangshuo, a great, laid-back base from which to explore other small villages in the nearby countryside, arguably surpasses it visually. It certainly beats it for the unrivalled opportunity to soak in strong local flavours on the cheap. there is not only enough seasonal fruits, crops, fish and fresh meat to eat, but also the beautiful Li River, the dramatic karst hills and amazing caves!
