Xingping, a place not only filled with beautiful scenery, but also full of traditional culture. Especially, the Buddhism culture here is rich. For instance, the Tengjiao Nunnery, was originally built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Every year, on 3rd of the 3rd lunar month, 6th of the 6th lunar month and 9th of the 9th lunar month, people around will come here to pray for good luck. But the most important festival to the people here is September 19th in the lunar calendar every year. According to the custom and belief, they will sacrifice to the Goddess of Mercy. On this day, people there will assemble and parade in the street with performing the local dances and holding many activities in order to thank god and enjoy the happy life.
